LeafGuard in winter doesn't work
Leafguard worked well enough throughout most of the year. It
caught most of the water during a rainy day. But if the rain came
down heavy, some water went over the gutter.
The main problem with the Leafguard gutter is in winter. If the
temperature stays around 32 degrees plus or minus a few degrees,
ice forms on top of the gutter cover. Any water coming down goes
over the gutter cover and drips down on anyone standing close to
the house. Also, long icicles form possibly two feet long. It needs
a heating system to prevent this, which is also expensive. That is
why other manufacturers of similar gutter systems with covers
sell heating systems to go with their gutters.
